PHS Singers in New York City's Carnegie Hall!
The PHS Singers traveled to New York City and performed in the renowned Carnegie Hall as part of the Heritage Music Festival. Under the guidance of Sarah Reese, the choir performed pieces that earned them maximun points on difficulty. After their performance, they were given a mini-clinic by adjudicator Dr. Darin Lewis from Yale University. For their efforts, they received an absolute rating of excellent. In addition to performing at the festival, students had an evening of sight-seeing, a visit to Chinatown, and a dinner cruise around New York Harbor. Class of 2013 Top Ten Banquet
Pendleton High School hosted one of the most coveted honor banquets on Monday, April 29th. The annual Top Ten Banquet. The past four years the graduating class has honored its top ten graduates with a banquet where they select the most influential teacher in their life and invite them as their distinguished quest. The students’ testimony concerning the impact of these teachers in their lives is a beautiful representation of the importance of personalized learning. This year’s honorees include: Ian Cummings/Rebecca Spray; Ben Dahill/John Boyd; McKenna Lanning/Lacie Lagroon; Thomas Loar/Lawrence Tarr; Alicia MacDougal/Michelle Gilmer; Mandy Martin/Josh Murdock; Mary Jordan Miller/Rosco Campbell; Haley Nash/Sarah Reese; Shelly Saville/Tracie Massey; Josh Yeargin/Blake Berry.

PHS FFA Agronomy Team to Compete in National Finals
The Pendleton High School FFA Agronomy Team took first place honors in the 2013 State Finals held recently at the Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC. The team will represent South Carolina in the National Agronomy Finals held in conjunction with the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, later this year.
Team members Mac Anderson, Emily Forrest, Hannah Capell and Josh Yeargin along with Team Coach Blake Berry, Agri-Science Instructor and FFA advisor at Pendleton High School, were presented a stipend by the SC FFA Foundation to assist with their expenses to attend the National FFA Convention. Josh Yeargin was the high individual scorer in the State Finals and Hannah Capell took second place high scoring honors. <click here for full size image>

Students Excel at Special Olympics
Students in special education classes from Pendleton Elementary, La France Elementary, Riverside Middle, and Pendleton High School attended the Special Olympics on April 10th. The games were held at Westside High School in Anderson. Students participated in running, walking, and throwing events. Students proudly wore their colorful winning ribbons to either Golden Corral or Olive Garden afterwards for a lunch with their parents.
